The Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kano State, Comrade Ahmad Dauda Lawan has called on the people of Kano State to increase their support and unity for the PDP in order to boost the party’s popularity both nationwide and in Kano State.
Comrade Lawan made the call while speaking with journalists in Kano.
He said they pray that Allah grants the party victory from the national level down to the local government and state levels.
He urged the people of Kano to vote for the PDP again, saying that all the development seen in the country and Kano State from 1999 to date was achieved under PDP-led governments.
"Because of this, we are reiterating our call to the people of Kano State including businessmen, elders, women, youths, workers and all those in different professions to continue to support the party. The PDP’s influence and acceptance are still very much alive within the community," he said.
Comrade Ahmad Dauda Lawan said they will work hard to increase public awareness and help the people understand that both the country and Kano State have entered a difficult situation. He said they pray that Allah returns the PDP to power so it can bring reforms, given the party’s track record of directly benefiting the people.
He disclosed that the party has already nominated candidates from the state house of assembly, national assembly and senatorial seats in all three senatorial zones of Kano State, as well as the Kano State governorship candidate and his deputy.
He therefore called on the people to come out and support PDP candidates at every level so the party can win the 2027 elections, restore the economy, improve security and peace, and provide avenues to develop the lives of the people.
He said the people of Kano State are yearning for the return of the PDP because of the hardship the country and Kano State are currently facing.
"The people are witnesses. During PDP administration everyone knows that food items were affordable, fuel was cheap, transportation was easy, and there was comfort, security and economic growth," he said.
He added that PDP candidates should therefore be supported in the upcoming election the party field credible candidates who, if elected, will rescue the people, the country and Kano State from the hardship they have been plunged into.
The PDP Publicity Secretary in Kano State, Comrade Ahmad Dauda Lawan, also called on Islamic scholars and elders to include the PDP in their prayers for victory. He said if the party wins, the people will continue to enjoy the dividends of democracy under a party with good vision and which is one of the largest in Africa.
