Zakah & Waqf Foundation with support from Qatar Charity Organisation has sponsored no fewer than 22 orphans in reputable private schools in Gombe State.

The Head of Education of the Foundation Sa'adu Muhammad Libidi, noted that its was the desire of the charity group to rescue the future of the downtrodden.

He disclosed that he has taken it upon himself to lead the supervision of the orphans in a bid to uplift their education.

According to a press statement signed by the Secretary of the Media Team of Zakah & Waqf Foundation, Isma'il Ibrahim, on behalf of the Chairman Dr Abdullahi Abubakar Lamido, the initiative involves full  sponsorship by Qatar Charity and Management and supervision by Zakah & Waqf Foundation.

"The orphans have already started schooling as they had spent two terms in school under the scheme," the statement partly read.

The statement noted that the Foundation had earlier visited various schools where the orphans are pursuing their education in order to assess the level of their performance, adding that Qatar's sponsorship is not only on access to quality education but to instill hope and a sense of purpose in the young lives.

"The initiative underscores the importance of education in breaking the cycle of poverty and empowering the next generation.
