In a significant breakthrough, the Kano State Police Command has arrested a notorious armed robber and recovered two AK-47 rifles with 47 rounds of live ammunition.
The suspect, Hassan Iliya, 35, was apprehended on August 5, 2024, while attempting to escape on a motorcycle.
The arrest came after a resident of Yandadi Village reported being attacked and robbed of N15 million by armed robbers.
Despite the ongoing nationwide protest, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba, directed a team of detectives to conduct intelligence-led patrols to arrest the culprits and recover their operational weapons.
The suspect was found with a sack containing the two AK-47 rifles, 47 rounds of live ammunition, and N4,986,000 in cash. The police are still investigating the incident.
The Commissioner of Police urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements and activities to the Kano State Police Command.
