Muhammad Jamu Yusuf, Special Adviser to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reaffirmed the governor's commitment to the principles of Kwankwasiyya, a political ideology founded by Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso.
According to Jamu Yusuf, both he and the governor are dedicated to upholding the teachings of Kwankwasiyya, despite facing opposition from those who doubt Abba Kabir Yusuf's capabilities.
Jamu Yusuf recalled that many political allies abandoned Kwankwaso's camp when he chosen Abba Kabir Yusuf as the party's gubernatorial candidate, labeling him immature for the role. Similarly, Jamu Yusuf's appointment as PDP leader for the Northeast zone was met with criticism and frustration. However, he emphasized their unwavering loyalty to Kwankwaso, stating, "We will never fail him."
Kwankwasiyya, which originated in Kano, emphasizes infrastructure development, education, and philanthropy.
Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, a charismatic populist, has maintained widespread support in Kano and northwestern Nigeria.
His ideology has been instrumental in shaping the state's politics, particularly during his tenure as governor from 1999 to 2003 and 2011 to 2015.
Jamu Yusuf's assurance of loyalty comes amidst attempts to create divisions between Kwankwaso and Abba Kabir Yusuf.
However, he remains confident that the governor will serve a second term, citing the people's trust in his leadership.
The relationship between Kwankwaso and Abba Kabir Yusuf is significant, as the latter is also Kwankwaso's son-in-law.
This family tie underscores the depth of their commitment to Kwankwasiyya principles.
As Kano State continues to navigate its political landscape, the allegiance of its leaders to Kwankwasiyya remains a crucial factor in shaping the state's future.
