Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has announced the allocation of an additional N5 billion for the third phase of pension payments, aimed at alleviating the suffering of retirees caused by the previous administration.
This move brings the total amount settled by the present administration to N16 billion, out of the outstanding N43 billion in pension benefits.
Since assuming office, Governor Yusuf has demonstrated his commitment to addressing the pension backlog. In the first phase, he allocated N6 billion to the state Pension Trust Fund to pay retirees below Grade Level 10.
The second phase saw another N5 billion released to the agency for disbursement to pensioners who served the state for 35 years.
The flag-off of the third phase of pension payments is scheduled to take place at the Kano Government House. Governor Yusuf's spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, revealed that the governor is dedicated to ensuring that the outstanding benefits of retirees are fully settled in a timely manner.
