As we step into the new year, the People's Redemption Party (PRP) extends its warmest congratulations to Nigerians. We wish you a happy and prosperous new year, filled with good health, happiness, and success.
However, we cannot ignore the challenges that Nigeria faced in 2024. The standard of living plummeted, the national currency struggled, and poverty, insecurity, and chaos spread. Despite these difficulties, we salute the courage and resilience of Nigerian families and pray for better days ahead.
As we mark 64 years of self-rule and 25 years of uninterrupted democracy, it's unacceptable that Nigeria has become the "poverty capital of the world."
Our life expectancy is among the lowest, and we have one of the highest infant mortality rates. Corruption and poor leadership have hindered our progress, and it's time for a change.
The PRP is concerned about the plans to privatize public schools, which will only exacerbate the issues of poverty and inequality. We urge the government to prioritize education, healthcare, and security, and to invest in the welfare of its citizens.
Furthermore, we condemn the spreading insecurity in some states, which has led to displacement, death, and destruction. We believe that a concerted effort involving all stakeholders is necessary to confront this issue head-on.
We also call on the government to implement the minimum wage, which has been pending for over a year. The recent increase in petrol prices has had devastating effects on the economy, and we urge the government to reconsider its policies and prioritize the welfare of its citizens.
As we move forward, we must demand good governance and accountability from our leaders. We must participate fully in the democratic process and hold our leaders responsible for their actions. Together, we can build a better Nigeria.
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
