Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has been honored as the Best Nigerian Governor of the Year 2024 on Educational Development by the prestigious New Telegraph Newspapers in Lagos. 

This prestigious award recognizes Governor Yusuf's outstanding commitment to education reforms in Kano State.

The award was presented to Governor Yusuf by former Abia State Governor, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who is also the publisher of the New Telegraph Newspapers, alongside former Governor of Edo State, Comrade Senator Adams Oshiomhole. 

Governor Yusuf was represented by his Special Adviser on State Affairs, Usman Bala, and other high-ranking government officials.

In a statement, Governor Yusuf expressed his deep gratitude and happiness for receiving the award, emphasizing his administration's commitment to education reforms.

He pledged to continue giving the education sector more attention and support to achieve the desired reforms. Governor Yusuf's administration has implemented various education reforms, including declaring a state of emergency on education, sponsoring 1,001 postgraduate students abroad, recruiting teachers, and allocating 29.5% and 31% of the total budget for 2024 and 2025, respectively.

Governor Yusuf was selected alongside seven other Nigerian governors for their outstanding contributions to education development in their respective states. The award program was attended by dignitaries, including the Managing Director of the NNPP, Mele Kyari.

The award is a testament to Governor Yusuf's dedication to improving education in Kano State. His administration's efforts to reform the education sector have been recognized and applauded by the New Telegraph Newspapers.

Governor Yusuf's commitment to education reforms is expected to have a positive impact on the education sector in Kano State, and his administration's efforts will likely be replicated in other states.
