Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has launched the rehabilitation of 17 dilapidated roads in the Kano metropolis. The project is part of the governor's urban renewal agenda aimed at transforming Kano into a mega city.
The governor flagged off the reconstruction of the urban renewal network at the popular Club Road in Nassarawa Local Government. He expressed his delight and fulfillment, stating that the project is a promise fulfilled to the people of Kano during his election campaign.
According to Governor Yusuf, the 17 road projects were approved by the State Executive Council, and funds have been allocated for the projects to ensure timely payment and quality work. He assured the people of Kano that all projects under his administration would meet global standards before being handed over.
The governor also commended the contractor, Metropolitan Construction Company, for the quality of work executed so far. He appealed to the contractor to maintain the standard and warned that he would make unscheduled visits to the site to ensure accountability.
The Commissioner of Works and Infrastructural Development, Engr. Marwan Ahmad, revealed that the Urban Renewal Programme for Kano Metropolis was initiated by Governor Yusuf and approved by cabinet members. The project commenced from Club Road to Ashton Road to Airport Road to Murtala Muhammad Road.
The rehabilitation of the 17 roads is expected to improve the infrastructure and quality of life in Kano metropolis. With the governor's commitment to ensuring that all projects meet global standards, the people of Kano can look forward to a brighter future.
