The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ungogo Branch, has strongly condemned the brutal murder of 16 northern travelers in Edo State. In a press release signed by Chairman Barrister Ahmad A Gwadabe, the association expressed its deep disturbance and outrage over the heinous act.
The NBA described the killing as a clear violation of the fundamental human right to life, emphasizing that the victims were innocent travelers who were simply passing through the state. The association deemed the act unacceptable and contrary to humanity and decency.
The NBA Ungogo Branch called on the Edo State Government and security agencies to take immediate action to bring the perpetrators to justice.
They also demanded adequate compensation for the families of the victims and urged the government to take concrete steps to prevent similar incidents in the future.
As part of their advocacy, the NBA emphasized the need for adequate security for travelers and measures to address underlying causes of violence and intolerance.
The association reiterated its commitment to upholding the rule of law, promoting justice, and protecting human rights for all citizens, regardless of their ethnicity, religion, or place of origin.
The NBA Ungogo Branch extended its condolences to the families of the victims and urged them to remain calm and law-abiding.
