Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has described Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II as a symbol of wisdom, leadership, and intellectual excellence, stating that the people of Kano are proud to have him as their traditional leader.
This was contained in a statement issued by governor’s spokesperson Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa on Tuesday
Speaking at the Government House during the Hawan Nasarawa celebrations, Governor Yusuf extolled the emir’s vast knowledge, his distinguished career, and his unwavering commitment to justice and societal progress.
He highlighted Emir Sanusi’s exceptional background, noting that he is not only a custodian of tradition but also a globally recognized intellectual.
“Kano is blessed to have a leader who embodies both tradition and modern intellect. Emir Sanusi is not just an emir; he is an economist, a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), a scholar of Islam, and an imam who leads prayers while serving as a traditional ruler.
“His wisdom and leadership continue to inspire progress and good governance in our society,” the governor stated.
Governor Yusuf further emphasized that his administration remains committed to working closely with the Kano Emirate to ensure the preservation of the state’s rich cultural and religious heritage.
He noted that the emir has consistently used his influence to advocate for education, economic empowerment, and good governance—values that align with the state government’s development agenda.
Governor Yusuf reiterated that the emir’s wisdom, experience, and dedication to justice remain invaluable assets to Kano State and Nigeria as a whole.
This year’s event attracted top government officials, traditional leaders, and thousands of Kano residents, demonstrating the deep respect and admiration for Emir Sanusi’s leadership.
