The African Democratic Congress (ADC) wishes to clarify recent reports circulating in the media regarding a Federal High Court ruling in Abuja. Contrary to false publications, the court did not issue an order restraining Senator David Mark and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola from serving as the party's National Chairman and National Secretary.
On September 4, 2025, Hon. Justice Emeka Nwite delivered a ruling that refused an ex-parte application brought by Hon. Nafiu Bala Gombe. The court directed that the matter proceed with due process, ordering the plaintiff to put the defendants on notice and adjourning the case to September 15, 2025.
The Court's Orders
1. The plaintiff's application was refused.
2. The plaintiff was directed to put the defendants on notice.
3. The defendants were ordered to appear and show cause.
4. The case was adjourned to September 15, 2025.
The ADC leadership believes that fake news is being spread to undermine the party. Having failed to stop INEC from acknowledging the leadership change, some individuals are resorting to misrepresenting court rulings.
The ADC urges the press and the public to be cautious of fake news and inaccurate reports. The party assures its members and supporters that Senator David Mark and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola remain the legitimate leadership.
The ADC remains committed to transparency and truth. The party will continue to work towards strengthening democracy and opposition parties in Nigeria.
