By Ibrahim Muhammad, Kano

The Marghi  community   commended the efforts of Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf in fostering peace in Kano State, particularly the establishment and deployment of 2,000 Kano Neighbourhood Corp security personnel. This, they say, is a commendable vision to safeguard community welfare.

They pray that Allah grants the personnel strength in their mission to protect the community.

PTIL Elder Wadzani Adamu, Paramount Ruler of the Marghi tribe in Kano State, made this statement during a Christmas visit by friends, relatives, and the Marghi community to his palace. He thanked God  for enabling them to celebrate Christmas peacefully this year, with no untoward incidents, especially in Kano State.

Elder Adamu also appreciated the Kano Emirate under Emir Muhammad Sanusi II for its support, expressing hope that the new year (2026) would bring peace, progress, and continued cordial relations between the Marghi people and the broader Kano community.

In a speech, Mr. Zakariya Yusuf Yakub Midala, a member of the Marghi palace council, said the Marghi community enjoys a good relationship with the Kano people – most Marghi people speak Hausa fluently and have lived peacefully there for years. “We live as part of the Kano community, not as a separate tribe – we are brothers in every way, including intermarriage,” he said.

He described PTIL  Marghi Elder Wadzani Adamu as a patient, compassionate, and helpful leader, especially to the vulnerable. “When help is needed,  Elder Wadzani Adamu  assist  silently in  countless times.

Mr. Zakariya noted that even before he become  the Marghi ruler, Adamu helped the community generously, unlike other chieftaincies that wait for support. The ruler’s kindness, respect, and lack of discrimination based on language, religion, or faction made the people elect him as Marghi ruler with the Kano Emirate’s approval.

Mr. Zakariya called on the Marghi community to keep praying for the Marghi and Kano Emirate, to unite, and to be patient with one another. “Disunity breeds insecurity. If we unite, we’ll have peace and prosperity. Let’s put aside language and religious differences God  wants us to focus on what unites us more than what divides us.
