The President of Zamfara State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines & Agriculture (ZACCIMA)Dr. Hassan Buhari Tafidan Maradun, has said that the state government under the leadership of Dr. Dauda Lawan Dare is continuing to take steps to revive business, industry and mining and agriculture activities across the state since his inception.
Dr. Buhari made this known while speaking to journalists in Kano at the Zamfara State’s Special Day at the 46th international trade fair being held in Kano.
He shows that even before the discovery of oil, cotton and granuts were the main sources of income in the country, and Zamfara is among the states that have long played a significant role in cotton production.
Due to the cotton production in Zamfara.state is competing with Katsina state in terms of the amount of cotton produced In the country, Zamfara has the largest cotton processing industry,” he said.
Tafidan Maradun said that although cotton production has been reduced but due to encouragment of Zamfara State Governor new measures have been taken since 2024 to revive the industry.
He said that many people have now returned to cotton farming, and new industries are emerging, including a company recently established to produce cotton seed oil.
He said cotton seed oil is a component of cotton, and many countries including Saudi Arabia demand it because of its quality and non-harmful to public health.
Dr. Hassan Buhari added that the Zamfara government is committed to reviving old textile industry that have been closed for a long time to create jobs for the youth and boost the economy of the people in the state.
According to him, the Zamfara state’s Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines & Agriculture (ZACCIMA has benefited from financial support since Governor Lawan Dare assumed office. various forms of support have been given to traders, including money grants and there is preparation to offer soft loans to small and medium enterprises which are set to be released soon.
He said Zamfara is famous for its agriculture and mineral wealth, and at 46th Kano internatiional trade fair they brought various products from each Local Government Area of the state with the aim of showcasing what the state has to offer.
He said that there are valuable minerals in Zamfara, such as gold, granite and zinc, which are attracting investors from within and outside the country.
According to him Zamfara state chamber of commerce continues to create ways to attract investors to develop industries, especially the gold sector and other types of minerals. He said that there are many countries looking for Zamfara's minerals, last year they took some of the state's products abroad to showcase the potential of Zamfara.
ZACCIMA president Dr. Hassan Buhari Tafidan Maradun, has said the importance of the International trade fair is to give the public an opportunity to see the products and opportunities available, as well as to attract interested people's to come and establish industries to collaborate in building sustainable businesses.
