A public affairs commentator, Malam Jibril Lawal Tafida, has dismissed allegations made against the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, describing them as false and misleading.
In a statement issued to journalists, Tafida reacted to a viral video in which one Garus Gololo allegedly claimed that the Senate President said Northerners must support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 elections or leave the country.
Tafida said the Senate President never made such remarks, adding that the allegation was intended to create tension and misinform the public.
He called on security agencies to investigate the matter and asked Gololo to provide evidence to support his claims.
The statement also condemned the language allegedly used against the Senate President, describing it as disrespectful to the office he occupies and contrary to the values of the North.
Tafida further accused Gololo of consistently attacking President Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress under the guise of opposition politics.
He appealed to Nigerians, especially Northerners, to discourage inflammatory comments capable of causing division in the country.
