Zamfara State has made a significant breakthrough in education, emerging as the top-performing Northern state and second in Nigeria in the National Examination Council (NECO) entrance exams for gifted students.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the spokesperson for the Zamfara Governor, Sulaiman Bala Idris, said that Zamfara state secured the highest number of slots, emerging as the best state in the entire north.
According to the 2024 Gifted Results released by NECO, Zamfara State secured 30 slots, trailing only Anambra State which had 35 slots.
The state's achievement is notable, given that it was declared a state of emergency in the education sector last year.
The success is attributed to the state government's efforts to implement its educational policies, which have led to an emphasis on girl-child education, with 21 girls and 9 boys qualifying for the Federal Government Academy Suleja.
The Federal Government Academy is a prestigious institution that nurtures gifted and talented children, providing them with opportunities to develop their potential and contribute to nation-building and technological development.
The Zamfara State government has pledged to continue implementing its educational policies, aiming for greater successes in the future.
