Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has distributed sports kits to 600 football clubs across the state's 44 local government areas.
The governor also presented appointment letters to Kano Pillars Board members, assuring them of his total support.
Governor Yusuf emphasized the importance of football, stating that it is a lucrative venture worldwide that youths deserve to engage in.
He noted that some indigenes of the state are currently playing professionally across cities worldwide, excelling in their careers and supporting their families financially, as well as contributing to the state's and Nigeria's economic growth.
The governor's administration plans to rehabilitate all stadiums in the state's local government areas. He also vowed to revive Kano Pillars Club, which had declined in performance over the past eight years. Additionally, the Kano Football Producing Company would be resuscitated to provide jobs for the state's teeming youth.
Governor Yusuf's commitment to youth development was evident in his assurance that the Kano Sports Institute, currently under rehabilitation, would be equipped with necessary facilities. Admission would be opened to youths, providing free accommodation and feeding.
The state Commissioner of Youth and Sports, Alhaji Mustapha Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, described Governor Yusuf as the most Youth-Friendly Governor in Nigeria, citing his commitment to youth and sports development.
