Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has presented the 2025 Appropriation Bill valued at N549.16 billion to the State Assembly for review and passage into law.
The budget, titled "Budget of Hope, Human Capital, and Economic Development," prioritizes education, infrastructure, and human capital development.
The proposed budget allocates 57% to capital expenditure and 43% to recurrent expenses ¹. Key allocations include:
- Education Sector_: N168.35 billion (31% of the budget)
- Governance Institutions_: N98.24 billion (17.57%)
- Health Sector_: N90.6 billion (16.50%)
- Infrastructure Development_: N70.68 billion (12.87%)
- Agriculture_: N21.04 billion (3.83%)
Other sectors receiving significant allocations include:
- Water Supply and Rural Development_: N27.24 billion (4.96%)
- Security, Justice, and Emergency Services_: N23.46 billion (4.00%)
- Women, Youth, and People with Special Needs_: N17.34 billion (3.15%)
- Environment and Sanitation_: N15.52 billion (2.83%)
- Transport Development_: N12.81 billion (2.33%)
Governor Yusuf emphasized that the budget aims to realize the collective aspirations for Kano State.
He stressed that proper implementation of the budget will lead to economic prosperity and reduce dependency on federal grants. The governor also pledged to create an efficient public service that meets good governance standards and boosts worker morale.
Speaker Falgore thanked the governor for the timely presentation and assured that the Assembly would begin deliberations soon.
He called on all ministries, departments, and agencies to prepare for budget defense before the House.
