Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reaffirmed his commitment to tackling malnutrition and enhancing maternal and child health.

He released ₦500 million as counterpart funding to UNICEF for nutrition initiatives in the state, demonstrating his administration's resolve to address critical health challenges.

The governor made this declaration during the official flag-off of the second Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH) Week held in Kumbotso Local Government Area.

This event underscores the state government's dedication to improving the quality of life for residents. In addition to the UNICEF funding, Governor Yusuf announced the allocation of ₦170 million for the renovation and upgrading of malnutrition treatment centers and referral centers.

These centers aim to combat child killer diseases and improve access to life-saving healthcare services.

Governor Yusuf emphasized that his administration is committed to fighting malnutrition and preventing diseases that threaten the lives of children.

By committing these funds, the governor is taking a bold step toward ensuring a healthier and brighter future for children and families.

The MNCH Week delivers essential healthcare services, including immunizations, antenatal care, nutritional supplements, and public health awareness campaigns.

These services target the most vulnerable populations in Kano State, aligning with the governor's comprehensive strategy to strengthen the healthcare system.

Governor Yusuf's commitment to healthcare is part of his administration's broader efforts to improve the lives of Kano State residents.

His government has also implemented initiatives to enhance education, infrastructure development, and economic growth.

The governor's dedication to addressing critical health challenges has been evident in his previous commitments, including his pledge to double the counterpart funding for UNICEF's nutrition initiatives.

This landmark investment underscores the state government's commitment to improving the quality of life for residents and ensuring a brighter future for generations to come.
