Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, former Kano State Governor and leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, has pledged to significantly diminish the All Progressives Congress (APC)'s votes in Kano State during the 2027 elections.

This declaration was made during a meeting with stakeholders from Tsanyawa Local Government Area at his residence, where he received former councilors and senior special advisers who served under the previous administration.

Kwankwaso attributed the success of his party, the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP), during the 2023 elections to the hard work of his team.

Despite being a new political platform with a late start to its campaign, the NNPP managed to limit the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to only 15,000 votes in Kano. Kwankwaso emphasized that his party's achievement demonstrates its potential to become a dominant political force in Kano and beyond.

"Now, it's our turn to diminish APC's influence," Kwankwaso stated, outlining his party's goal to reduce the APC's votes to less than 15,000 in Kano by 2027.

To achieve this objective, Kwankwaso stressed the importance of dedication and grassroots mobilization. He encouraged his supporters to remain focused on delivering results that would secure the party's success in future elections.

Kwankwaso's vow to reduce APC's influence in Kano comes amidst speculation about potential alliances between opposition parties ahead of the 2027 elections.

The NNPP has expressed its openness to working with other parties to challenge the APC's dominance. However, the APC has dismissed Kwankwaso's claims, with Rep. Alhassan Doguwa vowing to deliver Kano to the APC in 2027.

The APC has also highlighted its achievements under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, including attracting foreign direct investments worth over $30 billion and reducing the debt service ratio from 97 to 68 percent.

Despite these claims, Kwankwaso remains confident that his party can make significant gains in Kano and beyond.

As the 2027 elections approach, the battle for Kano's votes is likely to intensify. Kwankwaso's vow to reduce APC's influence has set the stage for a fierce competition between the NNPP and the APC.
