In a bid to strengthen Kano State's healthcare system, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has commissioned a 40-bed hospital in Zarewa, Rogo Local Government Area.
The hospital was constructed under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) initiative and facilitated by Senator Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila as part of his 2024 Constituency Projects.
Governor Yusuf commended Senator Kawu Sumaila for championing the project, stating that the hospital will significantly improve access to quality healthcare for residents of Zarewa and surrounding communities. The governor described the hospital as "well-conceptualized," facilitated and constructed through Senator Sumaila's efforts.
The hospital is designed to provide primary healthcare services to at least 20,000 patients. According to Dr. Mansur Mudi Nagoda, Executive Secretary of the Kano State Hospitals Management Board, the facility is fully equipped to offer laboratory services, routine immunization, and antenatal care programs.
Governor Yusuf directed the Kano State Hospitals Management Board to deploy qualified healthcare workers to ensure effective and efficient medical services.
He reaffirmed his administration's commitment to prioritizing the health sector, assuring the people of Kano that his government will continue to invest in healthcare infrastructure.
The governor's commitment to healthcare is evident in his administration's efforts to renovate and equip existing healthcare facilities. Recently, he inaugurated the 86-bed Hasiya Bayero Pediatric Hospital, which was renovated by his administration.
Representing Senator Kawu Sumaila, Dr. Ishaq Falalu Zarewa reiterated that the hospital project was part of the senator's commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises to his constituents. The hospital's launch is a significant milestone in Kano State's efforts to improve its healthcare system.
The people of Kano State are expected to benefit greatly from this new hospital, which will provide much-needed healthcare services to the community.
