From Our Report
The APC Arewa Merger group has publicly denounced former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai for his derogatory comments, which they believe are a deliberate attempt to harm the APC, the party he benefited from during his eight-year tenure.
According to a statement signed by the group's National leader, Hon. Musa Mujahid Zaitawa, El-Rufai's remarks are not surprising, given his history of openly arguing with respected Northern elders, labeling them as "useless" during his time as Governor.
The group noted that El-Rufai's actions were motivated by his desire to establish himself as a leader of the North and represent the Northern people within the Bola Ahmad Tinubu administration.
However, his plans were thwarted when President Tinubu appointed Northerners to significant positions, including the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Deputy Senate President, and the Chairman of the APC.
The APC Arewa Youths merger group emphasized that President Tinubu's appointments demonstrate his commitment to addressing the security challenges faced in the North.
Key officials, such as the National Security Adviser, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, and Ministers of Defense and Chiefs of Army Staff, were appointed from the North, along with ministers in Budget and Planning, Education, and Humanitarian affairs.
The group criticized El-Rufai for failing to recognize these efforts as positive, attributing his negative attitude to his denied plea for the role of Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
They questioned his value to the North, highlighting his historical betrayal of his political mentor, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and his contribution to the privatization of national assets.
El-Rufai's track record of demolishing homes and humiliating Northern elders during his tenure as minister of the Federal Capital, Abuja, was also brought to light. The group accused him of being a self-serving individual who prioritizes his family's interests over community development.
The APC Arewa Youths merger group warned El-Rufai to remain silent, threatening to publicly expose his ineffectiveness and lack of achievements for the North throughout his career.
They assured their loyalty to President Bola Tinubu's administration and vowed to defend the party's honor and that of the North against El-Rufai's alleged attempts to create discord.
Ultimately, the group emphasized that it is disgraceful for El-Rufai to have served as Governor for eight years in Kaduna State while his former commissioners and advisors are being prosecuted for corruption.
They urged El-Rufai to abandon his alleged mission to unseat President Tinubu in 2027, describing it as a selfish agenda that will not succeed.
