In a remarkable demonstration of commitment to gender equality and social development, Hajiya Rabi Salisu, the Honourable Commissioner for Human Services and Social Development in Kaduna State, delivered a powerful welcome address during the International Women’s Day (IWD) Celebration in the state.

The event, themed "Accelerate Action on Gender Equality and Turning Promises into Progress," served as a rallying point for policymakers, advocates, and stakeholders dedicated to advancing women's rights and opportunities.
In her speech, the commissioner reaffirmed the Kaduna State Government’s commitment to gender-responsive policies and inclusive development, particularly under the leadership of Governor Senator Uba Sani. She emphasised that the administration has taken bold steps towards ensuring that women and girls have equal access to education, healthcare, economic empowerment opportunities, and political participation. These efforts align with the broader vision of creating a just and prosperous society where no one is left behind.

Reiterating Kaduna State government's commitment to women's empowerment, Hajiya Rabi Salisu praised Governor Uba Sani’s achievements in gender-responsive budgeting, a crucial step toward bridging economic disparities between men and women. She noted that gender equality is not just a moral imperative but a fundamental requirement for societal progress and development.

According to her, the government's resolve to turn promises into progress reflects in various initiatives, including programs that support women entrepreneurs, skills acquisition projects, and policies that promote the inclusion of women in governance.
While celebrating the progress made, Hajia Rabi Salisu acknowledged the challenges that persist and called for collective action to accelerate gender equality initiatives. She urged policymakers, civil society organisations, and community leaders to intensify efforts in addressing issues such as gender-based violence, economic inequality, and discrimination.

“Let us renew our pledge to work together to create a world where women and girls thrive, free from violence, discrimination, and marginalisation. A world where women's rights are human rights, and gender equality is a reality for all,” she stated passionately.

On the future of inclusion and progress, the IWD’s event in Kaduna showcased the power and resilience of women and girls. It underscored the importance of continued investment in programs that promote gender equality, while reaffirming the government's dedication to building a society where every woman and girl can achieve her full potential.

As the Commissioner aptly concluded, the journey towards gender equality is one that requires constant advocacy, strategic policies, and unwavering commitment. The Ministry of Human Services and Social Development remains steadfast in its mission to empower women, protect their rights, and foster an inclusive Kaduna State where every individual has the opportunity to thrived
