Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has announced the commencement of the Ramadan Feeding Programme, aimed at supporting the less privileged in the state. The programme was launched during a ceremony at the Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano, where 1,250 cartons of dates donated by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia were distributed.

Governor Yusuf expressed his gratitude to the Saudi Consul-General in Kano, Khalil Ahmad Adamawi, for the generous donation, marking the fourth time the Kingdom has extended such support. The Governor emphasized that the donation comes at a critical time, as his administration continues to provide food assistance to the less privileged amid economic challenges.

The Governor reiterated that Kano remains the most peaceful state in Nigeria, attracting people from across the country, which puts additional pressure on government resources, particularly in healthcare and infrastructure. He appealed to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to support the state by building a psychiatric hospital and renovating the displaced children's camp.

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Humanitarian and Poverty Alleviation, Adamu Aliyu Kibiya, commended Saudi Arabia for its continued support to the people of Kano State.

The Saudi Arabian Consul-General, Khalil Ahmad Adamawi, reaffirmed the Kingdom's commitment to providing humanitarian assistance to Kano State.

During the event, cartons of dates were distributed to associations of persons with disabilities, Islamic clerics, and other vulnerable groups.

Governor Yusuf also called on the business community to lower prices of essential commodities to enable Muslims to fully observe Ramadan.

In his Ramadan message, the Governor urged residents to support one another, particularly relatives and the less privileged, highlighting the significance of charitable feeding during the holy month.

He also urged citizens to live peacefully and dedicate themselves to worship and supplication, praying for continued blessings and prosperity for the state.
