The Kano State Police Command is sounding the alarm over the increasing number of underage individuals riding tricycles in the Kano metropolis.
This trend has led to 16 serious road accidents in August 2025, resulting in injuries and property damage.
The command is equally concerned about the blatant disregard for traffic lights and road regulations by some users.
This behavior causes unnecessary traffic congestion and accidents, putting lives at risk.
The Kano State Police Command reminds the public that underage tricycle riding is prohibited and poses a significant threat to both the riders and other road users. Parents and guardians are advised to prevent their underage children from operating tricycles, as severe penalties will be imposed on both the riders and tricycle owners.
All road users are warned to obey traffic lights and regulations. The command will arrest and prosecute violators to ensure road safety.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, appreciates the public's cooperation in maintaining peace and order. He assures the public that the command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of lives and properties.
The command has established enforcement teams to monitor traffic rules and regulations. Citizens are encouraged to report incidents of underage tricycle riding, reckless driving, or other traffic violations to the nearest police station or through emergency numbers.
By working together, we can make Kano State a safer place for everyone.
