The Old Students Association of Police Secondary Schools, Kano State Chapter popularly known as Ambassadors of Ex-Police Secondary School Students ("Expols") held their third annual meeting in Kano on Saturday at the Police Officers Mess in Bompai.
Ambassador Sulaiman Kabir, President of Expols Kano chapter, said the meeting aimed at reuniting former students of the schools from various parts of Kano State and beyond. "The police secondary schools have several branches in the North and across Nigeria, including Shanono, Mani, Gusau, Karaukarau, Kaduna, and many other locations," he said.
He added that they supported their schools with medical supplies like malaria drugs and other essentials.
Sulaiman highlighted that many Expols Ambassadors hold high-ranking positions in the police force, military, and other paramilitary institutions in the country. "We have a good rapport with students who didn’t attend police schools because, initially, many of us were in public schools before enrolling here," he noted.
He encouraged students to consider enrolling in police secondary schools. "Even if you don’t pursue a career in security, you’ll gain fundamental knowledge that will make you wiser in life," he said.
Ambassador Kabir also mentioned that some Kano-born Expols are currently serving as police officers in the state, including the divisional police officers of Rimin Gado and Mariri. Some have passed on, and the group continues to support them and their causes.
The reunion was attended by several police officers and academicians, including the Vice Chancellor of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil, Professor Musa Tukur, who was represented by Professor Abdu Yaro.
