A senior pastor at Ecwa Church Kano DCC, Reverend Murtala Mati Dangora, has emphasized the importance of mutual respect among people of different faiths for peaceful coexistence. As chairman of the Northern Christian Religious Leaders Assembly, Kano State chapter, he stressed that respecting each other's beliefs is crucial for harmony.
Dangora noted that poverty and hardship should not lead to unrest, and leaders should work to alleviate suffering. He highlighted initiatives like the Muslim-Christian Peace Initiative, which fosters dialogue and understanding.
The Christian leader commended the Kano State Government's security efforts but urged the Federal Government to do more to address banditry and insecurity. He warned that prolonged neglect could lead to trouble, especially if certain groups feel targeted.
Dangora also mentioned a recent week-long prayer initiative by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for national peace and unity.
