The Kwankwasiyya Movement expresses concern over threats to Nigeria's democracy due to judicial inconsistencies and INEC's questionable conduct. The ADC leadership crisis and INEC's decision to suspend recognition of any faction pending judicial determination highlight Nigeria's fragile democratic institutions.
This is contained in a press statement Signed by Dr. Habibu Sale Mohammed
Spokesperson, Kwankwasiyya Movement
Similar crises have plagued PDP, LP, and NNPP, with contradictory judicial interventions weakening internal party democracy. The cumulative effect is a shrinking political space, undermining the credibility of future elections.
The Movement demands
Immediate resignation of INEC Chairman.Suspension of voter revalidation exercise.Greater judicial discipline and intervention by NJC. Recommitment to fairness, consistency, and constitutional order
We urge political actors to avoid weaponizing the judiciary and call on civil society and the international community to defend Nigeria's democratic space.
Nigeria's future depends on strong institutions, credible processes, and protecting citizens' right to choose leaders.
