SOKOTO — Senate Minority Leader and Benue South Senator Patrick Abba Moro, PhD, received the Distinguished Impactful Leadership Award on Thursday, June 11, at the maiden Democracy Day Lecture and Book Presentation in Sokoto.
The award recognized Moro’s sustained work on women and youth empowerment across Benue South. He was represented by the Idoma community delegation.
Sokoto State University hosted the lecture, which also featured the unveiling of a book honoring the late Hajiya Tuni Margai. The book was authored by Dr. Godwin Onuh Odeh, Head of History and Diplomatic Studies at the university.
Speaking through his representatives, Moro praised Dr. Odeh for displaying the “Idoma fighting spirit and industry,” adding: “That’s what Idoma people are known for, whether at home or in other lands,” he said.
The Senator commended Sokoto State University and partners for the initiative, declaring that “Sokoto State is moving in the right direction.” He stressed that “there is no better time for gender-inclusive politics than now.”
The event drew political leaders, academics, and community stakeholders to mark Democracy Day and reflect on leadership and inclusion.
