The Zonal Director and Chief Medical Director of Sheikh Muhammad Jidda Specialist Hospital, popularly known as "Kuroda Hospital"*Dr. Fatima Ibrahim Hamza, has said they have nothing to say to the Kano State Government and its officials except to express gratitude, due to the numerous and remarkable changes recorded in the health sector at the hospital.
Dr. Fatima made this known while speaking to journalists in Kano. She said that in the last two years of her leadership at the hospital, the Kano State Government under the leadership of Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has executed key developmental projects. These include the installation of solar power in the Emergency Unit, Laboratory, Labour Room, and other critical areas that rely on electricity.
She added that modern medical equipment has also been provided in the blood bank and in the Physiotherapy Department, which is her area of specialization.
Dr. Fatima said that when she assumed office, the hospital had only one small Physiotherapy room. But now, a new and bigger Physiotherapy department has been constructed and equipment will soon be installed. She also noted that general renovation work is ongoing across the hospital and has reached 80% completion.
She commended the Kano State Healthcare Trust Fund, KHETFUND, for its support in making these developments possible at the hospital.
On the issue of drugs, she said the hospital receives quality drugs from the Kano State Drugs and Medical Consumables Supply Agency through a revolving fund system, and the drugs are sold to patients at affordable rates.
Dr. Fatima Ibrahim Hamza expressed her satisfaction with the cordial working relationship between her and all the staff of Sheikh Muhammad Jidda Specialist Hospital.
