Following the commencement of campaigns ahead of the 2027 elections in the country, His Royal Highness, the Leader of the Marghi Community in Kano State, Ptil. Wadzani Adamu has called on politicians to conduct their campaigns with respect and to avoid anything that could cause conflict.
Ptil. Wadzani Adamu made this call in a statement he signed and distributed to journalists in Kano.
He said the people of the country have the right to express their political opinions as provided for in the constitution. Therefore, he urged them not to allow differences in political views to push them into actions that would cause disunity among them.
He added that democracy gives everyone the right to choose the political party they believe is best. According to him, in doing so, people must respect one another and remember that they live together as brothers, friends, parents and children in love and mutual understanding.
The traditional ruler also called on youths and cautioned them not to allow unpatriotic politicians to use them. He said they should not allow themselves to be given mind-altering drugs to cause violence during elections, while those giving them such things leave their own children safely at home.
“You should know that you are the leaders of tomorrow that the country will be proud of if you become people of good character. Therefore, do not allow selfish individuals to disrupt the peace and democracy of this nation,” he said.
In conclusion, Ptil. Marghi Kano, Wadzani Adamu expressed hope that the 2027 elections to be held in the country at all levels will be conducted in peace and harmony. He also prayed that God grants the nation leaders who will improve the lives of the people and promote unity and peace.
