A team loyal to former Kano State Deputy Governor, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, has paid a solidarity visit to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and his Deputy, Comrade Murtala Sule Garo, ahead of their planned defection from the National Democratic Congress, NDC, back to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Tuesday.

The delegation was led by a close ally of Gawuna, Hon. Muhammad Badaru Umar. Other members include Hon. Ali Datti Yako, NDC Vice Chairman, Kano State; Hon. Mansur Isa Gawuna; Hon. Uba Tanko Mijinyawa (Uba Danzainab) Hon. Aminu Umar Faruk; Hon. Sani Jibrin; Hon. Salisu Muhammad; Hon. Musa Sani Indabo.Hon. Muhammad Kabir Bala. Hon. Hassan Abba Abdullahi; and  Comrade Abdurrahman Muhammad.

Speaking during the visit, Hon. Muhammad Badaru Umar said their decision to engage the Governor was driven by their commitment to the development and progress of Kano State.

He noted that the visit was part of ongoing consultations ahead of their return to the APC and their resolve to contribute meaningfully to governance in the state.

Also speaking, Hon. Ali Datti Yako commended Governor Yusuf for his efforts in transforming Kano.

“Everyone knows that Governor Yusuf is working tirelessly to transform Kano State,” he said.

The visit comes amid intense political realignments in Kano ahead of the 2027 general elections, as prominent political figures continue to reassess their affiliations.

Political analysts say the anticipated return of Gawuna’s team to the APC is expected to significantly strengthen the party’s structure in Kano as preparations for 2027 gather momentum.

The delegation reaffirmed their solidarity with Governor Yusuf and his Deputy, and pledged support for initiatives aimed at the continued development of Kano State.
