Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reaffirmed his administration's determination to conduct the forthcoming Local Government Elections, presenting flags to 44 New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) chairmanship candidates. This ceremony, held at the Sani Abacha Indoor Stadium, drew a massive crowd of party faithful and supporters.
Governor Yusuf emphasized that the state will not permit anyone to disrupt the prevailing peace, citing the constitutional backing of the state government and Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) to hold the elections. He assured that the government is prepared to swear in winners declared by the electoral body.
The governor urged NNPP members to return to their wards and prepare for the election, praising them as genuine party supporters. He expressed confidence that the party will win all 44 chairmanship positions and 484 councillor seats, given the state's overwhelming support.
Dr. Audu Ajuji, Acting National Chairman of NNPP, hoped for a peaceful election, stating that the party is poised to sweep all elective positions without hindrances. Alhaji Hashim Sulaiman Dungurawa, state NNPP Party Chairman, described the gathering as outstanding, affirming the party's enduring presence beyond 2027.
Dungurawa praised the flag presentation to loyal party bearers, attributing the party's popularity to its leaders' honesty. He noted that the people of Kano reject corrupt opposition politicians.
The event drew National and State Assembly members, Commissioners, Special Advisers, party stalwarts, supporters, and government functionaries.
Governor Yusuf's resolve aligns with his earlier promise that the Local Government elections will proceed as planned ¹. With the presentation of flags, the NNPP has officially kicked off its campaign for the elections.
