Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has handed over 76 teenagers to their parents after they were discharged of treasonable felony charges by the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The teenagers, arrested during the #EndBadGovernance protest on August 1st, underwent significant hardship and starvation during their three-month police custody in Abuja.

Upon their release and pardon by President Bola Tinubu, Governor Yusuf arranged for their medical rehabilitation at the Muhammadu Buhari Specialists Hospital.

During the handover ceremony, the Governor applauded President Tinubu's pardon and emphasized his administration's commitment to education and welfare.

Two of the teenagers received automatic job offers from the state government, while the others will be reinstated in school.

The Kano State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Umar Haruna Doguwa, announced a N50,000 cash support for each child, courtesy of the Bafarawa Foundation.

Governor Yusuf, represented by his Chief of Staff, Alh. Shehu Wada Sagagi, urged the teenagers to become responsible citizens and ambassadors of Kano. He also challenged parents to prioritize their parental roles and ensure their children's welfare.

The Governor reiterated that his administration does not condone destructive behavior and will maintain order in the state.

This gesture follows Governor Yusuf's efforts to enhance education in Kano, including infrastructure upgrades and teacher training programs [2).

UNICEF has previously commended Governor Yusuf for prioritizing education and child welfare in Kano State.

This recent initiative demonstrates the Governor's commitment to supporting vulnerable children and promoting peace in the community.

The parents expressed gratitude to the state government and private organizations for their support during and after the release of their children.
