Kano State is gearing up for its 2024 OBR4 polio campaign, set to kick off tomorrow, with an ambitious goal to immunize approximately 3.6 million children against poliomyelitis.
State Commissioner for Health and Co-Chair of the State Taskforce Committee on Immunization, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, made this announcement during a committee meeting at Government House.
Dr. Labaran emphasized the importance of stakeholders working together to ensure the campaign's success, urging parents to take advantage of the opportunity to vaccinate their eligible children.
To boost participation, awards will be given to the top four performing local government areas, encouraging healthy competition among stakeholders.
The commissioner praised Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his unwavering support for healthcare services and thanked the Emir of Kano, Dr. Muhammad Sanusi II, for his commitment to polio eradication.
Development partners were also recognized for their contributions to strengthening the state's healthcare system.
Dr. Labaran congratulated newly elected local government chairmen, urging them to prioritize polio eradication and other health initiatives.
