Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, NNPP National Leader and 2023 Presidential Candidate, has expressed shock and disappointment over the arraignment of 67 minors by the Nigerian Police Force for alleged participation in the "End Bad Governance" protest.

Kwankwaso emphasized that these children, visibly malnourished and in need of medical attention, should be in school, not subjected to cruel experiences. He deemed the arraignment of such a large number of minors as unusual and a violation of human rights and dignity.

As leaders, Kwankwaso stressed, it is their duty to protect vulnerable individuals, particularly children, women, the elderly, and those in need. He criticized the government for being at the forefront of this violation.

Key Concerns:

Stringent Bail Conditions: Kwankwaso found it absurd that teenagers are required to source 10 million Naira and a grade 15 civil servant for bail.

Child's Rights Act 2003: Section 11 protects children from physical, mental, or emotional injury, abuse, neglect, or maltreatment.

Call to Action: Kwankwaso urged authorities to review the charges, allowing the minors to return to their families and become responsible citizens.

A Broader Call to Action

Kwankwaso also appealed to the Federal Government to address pressing national challenges, including:

- Banditry
- Kidnapping
- Boko Haram
- Lack of stable electricity
- Economic policies

Rather than targeting children, the government should focus on resolving these critical issues.
