Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has disbursed N400 million to 10 community interest groups to enhance agribusiness and boost food security in the state and across Nigeria.

This initiative is part of the state's efforts to develop its Agricultural Value Chain, which is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy.

The disbursement ceremony took place at the Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano, and was organized by the Kano Agro-Climatic Resilience Landscape (ACreSAL) in collaboration with the World Bank. Each of the 10 community interest groups received N40 million ($25,000), with the expectation that every member would benefit from at least N1 million as start-up capital for agricultural value chain businesses.

According to Governor Yusuf, the program is designed to register community interest groups and farmers' cooperatives in selected areas for climatic resilience businesses.

He urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the funds, enabling other young people across the state to benefit from the ACReSAL program.

The governor emphasized that the ACReSAL initiatives have enabled the state to make significant strides in addressing environmental challenges.

He tasked the state Commissioner of Environment and Climate Change, Dr. Dahir Muhammad Hashim, to develop more strategic programs ensuring environmentally friendly sustainability.

In his welcome address, Dr. Hashim encouraged the beneficiaries to utilize the revolving fund effectively, revealing that international donor agencies are willing to support the state if the project succeeds.

The National Coordinator of the ACReSAL program, Alhaji Abdulhamid Umar, expressed gratitude to the state government for its partnership and commitment to eradicating redundancy among the youth.

The ACReSAL program aims to promote agricultural development and enhance the resilience of farmers in Kano State. By providing financial support to community interest groups, the program seeks to boost food security, improve livelihoods, and contribute to the state's economic growth.

The disbursement of N400 million to community interest groups demonstrates Governor Yusuf's commitment to supporting agribusiness and promoting agricultural development in Kano State.
