Kano state government under the mantle leadership of  Governoer Abba Kabir Yusif has re-iterated it's commitments toward improving the activities of practicing lawyers in the state.

Kano state Anttorney General Commssioner of justice, Barrister Haruna Isa Dederi Sa'id  this made while delivering his speech at the one day training seminar on upholding ethical standards and strengthening anti money laundering compliance in legal practice in Kano.

The Commissioner who was represented by the Deputy Director in the ministry, Malam Shamsudeen Abdullahi says government is committed to supporting the efforts of legal resources and opportunities to ensure lawyers are well equip to meet the challenges of upholding rule of law. 

He however added that lawyers have a vital role to play in protecting the nation from cruisive effects of financial crime by folding the highest standard of professional ethitics and compliance with anti money laundering laws. The lawyers can contributes significantly to build a more and just prospective society.

In her speech Kano state Chief Judge, Honarabul Justice Dije Aboki Ably represented by Justice Jamilu Sulaiman expressed her appreciation to the orgarnisers for their contributions in reducing money laundering in legal profession. 

Hoping that the seminar will change the mindset of the lawyers. Urging the participants to utilised what they benefit in a judicial way.

Earliar in his welcome address the chairman of Nigerian Bar Association Ungoggo branch Kano state who also is the convener of the seminar, Barrister Ahmad Abubakar Gwadabe says the seminar is organised to the members of the branch on upholding ethical standards and strengthening anti money laundering compliance in legal paractice.

The chairman Barrister Ahmad Abubakar Gwadabe, pointed that the law practice are targeted to fight illegal transaction and criminal work. Promising to increase their efforts to reduce any illegal transactions. 

Highlighting that the role of lawyers is to contribute in reducing the corruption, Expressing his gratitude to the stakeholders. "We shall also redouble our efforts to fight torrorism", according to him.

In his remarks, one of the ROLAC officers in Kano who helped organize the event, Isma’il Bello, said that this is part of their work to empower lawyers to become experts in their profession, especially in matters related to corruption, which is why they contributed to the training of the Ungogo branch of the lawyers.

He said that they initially invited the lawyers of the Ungogo branch and the Kano branch to Abuja and were given a two-day training on combating corruption and they returned to Kano to train their members. 

This is part of their work to support especially young lawyers to understand their profession and maintain integrity and be able to achieve their goals properly.

Isma’il Bello, the ROLAC officer, hoped that everyone who attended the workshop would strive to use what they learned to contribute to the development of society through their profession and what they learned

All members of the branch that participates in the seminar had expressed their appreciations on the such kind gesture and opportunity giving to them. Promising that they will apply the knowledge they acquired in a proper way.
