As the world marks International Children’s Day, Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to promoting the safety, welfare, and overall development of children across the state.
This was contained in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Tuesday.
In the statement, Governor Yusuf emphasized the crucial role children play in shaping the future of any society.
He noted that his government remains resolute in implementing policies that guarantee the protection of children’s rights and access to quality education, healthcare, and a safe environment.
“Children are not only the future of Kano but of our nation. It is our moral and constitutional duty to ensure they grow in an atmosphere of love, dignity, and security,” the governor declared.
“We have taken deliberate steps to strengthen child protection laws, improve basic education, and provide health services across the 44 local government areas.”
Governor Yusuf disclosed that under his administration, the state has increased budgetary allocations to sectors affecting children, including basic education, child healthcare, and social welfare.
He also announced plans to launch a state-wide campaign against child abuse, street begging, and child labour, in collaboration with local and international partners.

The statement added that the Governor had recently assented to the law for establishment of Kano State Social Ptotection Agency (KASPA) with a primary responsibility to ensure social safety for vulnaranle groups.
