The Nigeria Police Force has announced the posting of AIG Garba Ahmad as the new Assistant Inspector General in charge of Zone One Headquarters Kano. This was contained in a press release signed by CSP Bashir Muhammad, Zonal Police Public Relations Officer Kano.
AIG Garba Ahmad was born in Kafur Local Government Area of Katsina State. He holds a Bachelor's degree in History from Bayero University Kano and a Master's degree in Public Administration from the University of Maiduguri. He joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1992 as a Cadet Asp course 17 at the Police Academy, Kano.
The new AIG has had a distinguished career, serving in various capacities across the country, including Borno, Ebonyi, Kaduna, FCT Abuja, Gombe, Lagos, and Enugu. He has also served as Commissioner of Police in Yobe State and was promoted to the rank of AIG in 2024.
AIG Garba Ahmad's wealth of experience and expertise in security matters will be invaluable in his new role as the head of Zone One Headquarters Kano.
He has promised an open-door policy and has encouraged the good people of Kano and Jigawa States to provide useful information to the police to ensure effective security provision in the zone.
The posting of AIG Garba Ahmad is expected to bring a new level of security consciousness to the zone, and his leadership is anticipated to make a positive impact on the lives of the people. He was posted as the 26th Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone One Headquarters Kano on May 22, 2025.
