The world of Hausa journalism has lost a shining star with the retirement of Malam Mujtaba Ramalan Bello, a veteran journalist and former General Manager of Pride FM Gusau, Zamfara State.
For over three decades, Malam Mujtaba captivated audiences with his golden and sonorous voice, bringing news and current events to the Hausa-speaking masses .
Malam Mujtaba joined the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) in 1993 as a news presenter for Sashin Hausa, Radio Nigeria Kaduna.
He quickly rose through the ranks, becoming one of the best news presenters in the Hausa service.
His career took him to various stations, including FRCN Yola and Kano, where he served as State Correspondent.
Malam Mujtaba’s leadership skills earned him key positions in the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ). He served as Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the NUJ and later as Vice Chairman of the NUJ Kano Council.
His appointment as General Manager of Pride FM Gusau in 2017 was a testament to his dedication and expertise in the field .
Malam Mujtaba’s journalism career is marked by integrity, passion, and a commitment to upholding the ethics of the profession.
His retirement in August 2025 marks the end of an era, but his legacy will continue to inspire generations of journalists .
Malam Mujtaba is happily married with one wife, nine children, and 11 grandchildren. His family has been a source of support throughout his career, and he is proud to have built a loving and close-knit family .
