The Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has assured media assistants to the 44 local government chairmen in Kano State  of the Ministry’s plan to organise capacity building training for them with a view to enhancing their professional capacity and improving their productivity.

This is contained in a press release Signed: by Ibrahim Abdullahi
Deputy Director Information
Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs
and made available to press.

Comrade Waiya made the pledge when he received the forum of media aides to the local government chairmen yesterday on a courtesy visit to him in his office.

The Commissioner noted  that the  ministry remains the centre of information dissemination in the state. Hence, it's committed to ensuring effective communication between the government and the public.

Comrade Waiya announced that the Kano State Government will soon organise a joint  capacity-building workshop between members of the local government chairmen media aides forum and local government information officers with the aim of bridging gaps, fostering unity, and equipping them with the desired skills to perform their functions professionally, efficiently and effectively.

He called for synergy and harmony between the local government chairmen media aides and information officers, noting that while the work of the media aides is mainly through social media, information officers are required to subject reports to thorough scrutiny before publication.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the association, Abubakar Haruna, lauded the Kano state government for the various developmental projects being executed across the state, saying that the association has already been introduced to local government chairmen and is now seeking recognition from the governor.

Haruna appealed for training and provision of working gadgets as well as professional advice from the ministry on how members of the association can function more effectively in the discharge of their activities.
