It has come to light that many senior officials from the opposition party who work in the Federal Government, including elected APC members from Kano, are actively opposing the major development projects being carried out by the NNPP administration in Kano. In contrast, the majority of Kano’s residents are fully pleased with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s performance.
Ambassador Isyaku Yahaya Talba, Deputy Chairman of NNPP in Kano State, made these remarks while responding to APC Senator for Kano North, Barau I. Jibrin, who recently claimed that Kano is moving backward.
Talba explained that the senator’s comments stem from envy, selfish motives, and a blind resistance to the numerous development and social initiatives led by Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf. He said this opposition reveals the lingering damage from the previous Ganduje administration.
He added that some APC members resort to negativity and try to undermine the Kano State government, but they consistently failed. The Abba Kabir Yusuf administration, operating under the Kwankwasiyya framework, is steadily advancing in project implementation across the state.
Talba also noted that the people of Kano voted overwhelmingly for Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf in 2019 (though that choice was later thwarted) and re‑elected him in 2023 to escape the past era of oppression and resource plunder.
Since Yusuf took office, certain anti‑development APC figures have been scheming to create obstacles, dragging the governor to court, stirring emirate disputes, and inciting unrest. Yet these efforts have not distracted the state government from its work or from maintaining peace.
The ambassador emphasized that Kano’s citizens are generous, wise, and peace‑loving. They support and cooperate with Governor Yusuf, appreciating the progress being made, while remaining vigilant against those who seek to sow discord—efforts that will never succeed.
He highlighted that the people of Kano value humanity, unity, freedom, and cannot be bought. They respect dignity, hard work, and trust.
Talba affirmed that Kano residents stand firmly with the Abba Kabir Yusuf administration and are satisfied with its inclusive governance. Even opposition members are receiving their due rights, and former APC councilors are being paid their entitlements.
Finally, he urged the people of Kano to keep supporting Governor Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf, and to pray for continued peace and protection from both internal and external threats.
