By Ibrahim Muhammad Kano.

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has vowed that his administration will no longer allow public servants who have served the state diligently to remain in uncertainty over their lawful entitlements.

This was contained in a statement signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa on Thursday.

Governor Yusuf made the pledge on Wednesday during the disbursement ceremony for severance gratuities, accommodation, and leave allowances to 1,371 former councillors who served between 2021 and 2024.

The payment, tagged Final Tranche, amounted to ₦8,258,424,823.20 and was held at the Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano.

“Our goal is simple: never again should those who serve the public be left in uncertainty about what is rightfully theirs,” the Governor stated.

He said his administration has opened a new chapter for Kano’s public and civil servants by deepening reforms aimed at preventing the accumulation of such arrears in the future.

Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his commitment to prudent governance, people-centred policies, and the restoration of public confidence in state institutions.

“Kano is the only state we can truly call ours. We have no other place to be prouder of than here,” he added.

The Governor urged residents to unite in building a fairer, stronger, and more prosperous Kano, where the sacrifices and contributions of public servants are duly recognised.

He also thanked the people of the state for encouraging the government to lead with transparency, prudence, and compassion.

During the ceremony, dozens of former councillors received instant payment alerts ranging from ₦5 million to ₦6 million.
