A good friend of mine has just drawn my attention to a fake news item written by one Abu Ibrahim, titled “APC Has Betrayed Fubara – Obla”, published in an online medium known as Abujanetwork on 21 January 2026. The publication falsely attributed the statement to “Okoi Obla,” which may mislead people into thinking it refers to me.
Let me state clearly: my name is not Okoi Obla. I have always introduced myself as Okoi Obono-Obla, never as Okoi Obla. The publication is pure fiction. I have never spoken to Abujanetwork News at any time or in any place. Everything contained in that publication is false and malicious.
It is a politically motivated hatchet job orchestrated by one Mohammed Doka, Media Adviser to former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN. The intent is obvious—an attempt to throw darts at APC and its supporters.
For the record, I am from Cross River State, not Rivers State. The events unfolding in Rivers State do not concern me directly, other than observing them as an active stakeholder in APC and a conscientious Nigerian citizen. I stand firmly and completely with the APC regarding the developments in Rivers State.
I therefore urge my friends and supporters of APC to totally disregard, discount, and discredit the said publication in its entirety.
Finally, I wish to make it known that I will take legal action against the publishers of Abujanetwork News for being purveyors of fake news.
Conclusion: This publication is nothing more than a deliberate attempt to misrepresent my identity and tarnish my reputation. I remain steadfast in my loyalty to APC and will continue to defend truth against falsehood.
