A former Governor of Kano State and presidential candidate of the NNPP in the 2023 general elections, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso leader  of Kwankwasiyya moverment, has formally announced his resignation from the party with immediate effect, citing the need for a strategic political realignment.

In a press statement personally signed by the former NNPP national leader, Kwankwaso expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to serve the party at its highest level, describing his tenure as both an honour and a privilege.

“I wish to formally announce my resignation from the New Nigeria People’s Party with immediate effect,” he stated.

Kwankwaso, who was the party’s presidential flag bearer in the 2023 elections, acknowledged that the decision to leave was not taken lightly, noting his longstanding commitment and loyalty to the party.

“As a committed and bona fide member of the party, this was not an easy decision to make,” he said, adding that prevailing political developments in the country necessitated a change in direction.

The former governor pointed to what he described as the “current trajectory of the nation’s political landscape,” which, according to him, requires a strategic repositioning to effectively address Nigeria’s challenges.

He extended gratitude to the party leadership, specifically acknowledging the contributions of the NNPP National Chairman, Ajuji Ahmed, and members of the National Working Committee for their support during his time in the party.

Kwankwaso also appreciated the roles played by the Board of Trustees, the National Executive Committee, and party leaders at all levels, from wards to states, as well as members and supporters of the Kwankwasiyya Movement.

Kwankwaso said he will  continue to collaborate and work together towards charting a better and more prosperous future for our dear nation.
