Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved the appointment of new members to the Kano State Sports Commission and the Management Board of Kano Pillars Football Club, as part of efforts to reposition sports administration and boost youth development in the state.
The governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, announced the appointments in a statement released on Thursday.
Kano State Sports Commission
The newly appointed members of the Sports Commission are:
1. Alhaji Tukur Babangida Chairman
2. Representative of ALGON Member
3. Alhaji Balarabe Surajo (Wamban Karaye) Member
4. Ibrahim Abba (Former Director) Member
5. Auwal Surajo (Representative of Higher Institutions) Member
6. Representative of Persons with Disabilities Member
7. Sunusi Ismail Member
8. Sani Musa Danja (Special Adviser on Youth Affairs) Member
9. Bashir Maizare Secretary
Kano Pillars Football Club Management Board
The governor also approved the following appointments to the Kano Pillars FC Management Board:
1. Ahmad Musbahu – Chairman
2. Abba Galadima Member/Elder
3. Sharu Inuwa Rabiu Member
4. Fatima Ibrahim Abubakar Member
5. Bashir Idris (Former Chairman, Fans Club) Member
6. Abubakar Isa Dandago Member
7. Salisu Muhammad Kosawa Member
8. Ahmed Musa Sports Ambassador
9. Chairman, Kano Pillars Fans Club Member
10. Jamilu Tijani Yamadawa (SSA Sports) Member
11. Engr. Usman Mustapha K/Na’isa (SSA Mahaha) Member
12. Murtala Umar SSR
13. Kabiru Usman SR
Mandate: Talent Hunt, Professionalism, Pillars Revival.
Governor Yusuf charged the appointees to bring their experience and expertise to bear in strengthening sports development across the state.
He tasked the new boards with identifying and nurturing young talents, promoting professionalism, and restoring the former glory of Kano Pillars Football Club.
“The Governor expressed confidence that the new leadership of the Sports Commission and Kano Pillars would usher in a new era of professionalism, excellence and achievement in the state's sporting sector,” the statement said.
