By Ibrahim Muhammad, Kano

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has secured 150 trucks of fertilizer for distribution to genuine farmers across Kano’s 44 local government areas, as part of measures to boost agricultural productivity and enhance food security.

The governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday.

Governor Yusuf made the announcement while presenting the INEC Certificate of Return to Hon. Shuaibu Rabiu, winner of the Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency bye-election, at the Government House, Kano.

*Subsidized Inputs, Direct Distribution*
He said the fertilizer will be sold to farmers at highly subsidized rates, alongside other agricultural inputs, to support farming activities and increase crop production across the state.

To ensure transparency and prevent politicisation, distribution will be handled through the offices of District Heads in all LGAs.

The governor warned Local Government Council Chairmen against diverting the process to council secretariats, stressing that the programme is “specifically designed to benefit genuine farmers.”

484 Ambulances for Maternal Health.

Meanwhile, Governor Yusuf disclosed that his administration has concluded plans to provide 484 mini-ambulances  one for each ward in Kano State  to ease transportation of pregnant women to healthcare facilities.

Each ward will receive one ambulance to be managed by community leaders for prompt response to maternal health emergencies.

“The initiative is aimed at reducing maternal mortality, improving access to healthcare services and protecting pregnant women from avoidable complications during childbirth,” Yusuf said.

Empowerment Drive for Women, Youths.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the living conditions of women and youths through targeted empowerment and social intervention programmes.

He urged women and young people across the state to take advantage of opportunities available through the state’s 24 specialised institutions by registering and participating in government empowerment initiatives.
