The people of Fagge Local Government Area have held an endorsement meeting to affirm the appointment of Abba Ibrahim Abba as the new Galadiman Fagge, during a meeting held at the outer mosque on Sunday evening.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of State for Housing, Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, the Member of the House of Representatives representing Fagge Local Government, Hon. Barr. Muhammad Bello Shehu, alongside the Chief Imam of Fagge, elders, Islamic clerics, and other stakeholders from various sections of the community.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, the Minister of State for Housing, Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, said that according to the traditional process for the Galadiman Fagge stool, all families that had previously held the title were invited, where Abba Muhammad was presented as the Galadima.
According to him, none of the families that had held the title in the past objected to the nomination, as they all withdrew and declared their support.
"Abba Muhammad Fagge is the Galadiman Fagge chosen by the community now. We did everything peacefully without any problem. The people of Fagge give respect to their Galadima, and Abba Muhammad is their brother, they grew up together, so there is no problem with him," Hon. Ata said.
He added that as he had advised, any family that knows it has held the Galadiman Fagge title in the past should write to state that it is not contesting and that it supports what has been done.
Hon. Ata thanked God for the peaceful conclusion of the meeting and called on the entire people of Fagge to continue to live in peace and unity.
In his own remarks, the House of Representatives Member representing Fagge, Hon. M.B. Shehu, told journalists that it was a choice desired by the community, where Abba Muhammad was affirmed as Galadima.
He said that despite the limited number of people expected to attend the meeting, a large crowd turned up, which shows the community's acceptance and endorsement of Abba Muhammad Fagge as Galadima.
Hon. Shehu prayed for the repose of the soul of the late Galadiman Fagge and prayed that God grants the new Galadima the ability to lead well, stressing that the people of Fagge are one family.
Among the prominent Islamic scholars who attended the meeting were Sheikh Tijjani Bala Kalarawi, Sheikh Alkadiri Fagge, the Chief Imam of Fagge, as well as some politicians and businessmen from the area.
