Gombe State Chapter of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) denounces claims of fake appointments and clandestine meetings aimed at disrupting party unity.

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Gombe State has raised an alarm over a purported meeting scheduled for today by individuals falsely claiming affiliation with the party.

The party has strongly disowned both the meeting and the alleged appointment of Dr. Sadiq Abubakar Gombe as National Deputy Chairman (North) of the SDP, labeling them as fraudulent and illegitimate.

In a press release signed by Ambassador Engr. M. Abdulkadir Kumo, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the State Chairman, the party categorically denied issuing or recognizing the so-called appointment.

“Let it be reiterated in strong terms: the Social Democratic Party did not issue, approve, or recognize such an appointment. It is fake, illegitimate, and should be disregarded entirely,” the statement read.

The SDP revealed that Dr. Sadiq Abubakar Gombe is not a registered member of the party and remains unaffiliated based on official records.

The statement noted that his last political alignment was with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) during the previous general elections, and there has been no communication or documentation suggesting his return to the SDP.

The party also named other individuals allegedly involved in the meeting, including Musa Maccido, who formally exited the SDP in 2024, and Rev. John Nwarke, who left after the 2022 national convention.

The party declared their involvement as null, void, and politically mischievous.

According to the press release, these actions are believed to be part of a calculated effort by political saboteurs to create confusion and provoke internal crisis within the SDP.

However, the party assured its members and the public that it remains steadfast, unified, and focused on its goals.

“This desperate move is part of a broader agenda orchestrated by political elements determined to sow confusion, create distraction, and provoke internal crisis within the SDP.

However, they will fail as our members remain resolute, our leadership firm, and our direction clear,” the statement emphasized.

The SDP urged the general public to disregard any congratulatory messages, press statements, or meetings associated with the fake appointment.

The party also reaffirmed its commitment to delivering a credible political alternative to Nigerians while preparing strategically for the 2027 general elections.

“The Social Democratic Party remains focused, united, and committed to delivering a strong and credible alternative to Nigerians.

As we continue to gain the trust of the people, we will not be distracted by impostors and agents of disunity,” the statement concluded.

The SDP pledged to defend its integrity against any internal or external attempts to destabilize the party, reiterating its readiness to counter any acts of sabotage.

This development highlights the party’s resolve to ensure accountability and authenticity within its ranks as it positions itself as a viable political platform for Nigerians.
