Hon. Habibu Sale Mohammed, PhD, a governorship aspirant under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has declared his intention to contest the Fagge Constituency seat in the Kano State House of Assembly in the 2027 elections.

Mohammed, a former chairman of Fagge Local Government Area, made the declaration in a campaign address to residents of the constituency on Thursday. He said his decision was motivated by the need for effective representation that would listen to the people, speak courageously, work diligently and remain accountable.

He said Fagge required urgent attention in education, healthcare, infrastructure, security, youth empowerment and support for small businesses. Mohammed described his candidacy as a commitment to service rather than personal privilege, citing his experience in local government administration, community development and humanitarian initiatives.

Outlining his proposed legislative agenda, he identified six priority areas: education and human capital development; youth empowerment and employment; women’s economic empowerment; healthcare and social welfare; infrastructure and the environment; and representation and accountability. He pledged to advocate for vocational training, scholarships, entrepreneurship opportunities, improved primary healthcare, better roads, drainage, water supply, sanitation and street lighting. He also promised regular engagement with constituents and updates on legislative activities and constituency projects.

Mohammed urged his supporters to conduct a peaceful and issue-based campaign, rejecting violence, insults and politics of hatred. He said the NDC and Kwankwasiyya ideals of fairness, equity and social justice informed his decision to contest. He appealed to elders, women and youths to support his candidacy, promising to remain accountable to the people of Fagge if elected.
