Hon. Habibu Sale Mohammed Mailemo, PhD, has formally declared his intention to contest for the Fagge Constituency seat in the Kano State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a campaign address to the people of Fagge on Thursday, Mohammed who is also serving as spokes person of Kwankwasiyya movement said his decision to seek the mandate was driven by the need for "effective representation that listens, speaks courageously, works diligently and remains accountable
He said Fagge required urgent attention in education, healthcare, infrastructure, security, youth empowerment and support for small businesses. Mohammed described his candidacy as a commitment to service rather than personal privilege, citing his experience in local government administration, community development and humanitarian initiatives.
Outlining his proposed legislative agenda, he identified six priority areas: education and human capital development; youth empowerment and employment; women’s economic empowerment; healthcare and social welfare; infrastructure and the environment; and representation and accountability. He pledged to advocate for vocational training, scholarships, entrepreneurship opportunities, improved primary healthcare, better roads, drainage, water supply, sanitation and street lighting. He also promised regular engagement with constituents and updates on legislative activities and constituency projects.
Mohammed urged his supporters to conduct a peaceful and issue-based campaign, rejecting violence, insults and politics of hatred. He said the NDC and Kwankwasiyya ideals of fairness, equity and social justice informed his decision to contest. He appealed to elders, women and youths to support his candidacy, promising to remain accountable to the people of Fagge if elected.
